WHY WE INVESTED

While filming Dragons’ Den in 2019, I immediately saw the potential of these two driven founders, Jasmijn and Lyla. Nina.care has pivoted from babysitting to au pair services. Nina.care has captured almost a third of the Dutch au pair market within the past 2 years. Their easy-to-use app combines technology with dynamic pricing and enhanced screening to perfectly match families and au pairs. Nina.care has added both the England and Germany as promising new markets, where we see the business substantially growing. We’re excited to see Nina.care create a new market where traditional childcare options fall short.

The scale-up was founded by twin sisters Jasmijn and Lyla Kok and secured an investment by Shawn Harris after appearing in TV program Dragons’ Den in 2020. A second investment followed in 2021, financing the first international pilots. The goal of Nina.care is to increase the number of active users and expand the app's reach across borders. In addition to offering the perfect au pair or babysitter, they are focusing on expanding their au pair services and development of the platform, with a primary emphasis on further developing their current markets in the Netherlands, UK, and Germany.

Jasmijn Kok, co-founder of Nina.care: "Shawn is a go-getter, very inventive and someone with loads of character. She built her own company from scratch, not letting anything get in her way and she is inspiring and supporting us to do the same. Thanks to Orange Wings Investments, we dream bigger than we ever have - and we are becoming better entrepreneurs than we have ever been. Shawn obviously has vision when it comes to coaching her startups. She is always involved and it feels great to work with her!”
