Je fiets laten ombouwen tot driewieler? Dit Nijmeegse bedrijf doet het, en groeit. Ook dankzij Dragons’ Den
Tworby’s conversion module transforms any adult bike – electric or standard – into a stable, good-looking tricycle.
The elderly and people with disabilities are often excluded from mobility and access opportunities. Tworby offers them a chance to update their two-wheelers and to increase their self-reliance, freedom and vitality. Besides extending the life cycle of bicycles, Tworby operates as a social company, by employing disadvantaged people who carry out the assembly of their products.
Tworby was founded in 2019, by Bob van den Berg, and received a first investment from the Rabo Foundation that same year. In 2020, Tworby won the IGNITE Award 2020 for social entrepreneurship, representing an investment amount of 100,000 euros. The product bears a CE marking for medical devices and thus complies with all European Law and Regulations regarding the MDR.
Owner Bob van den Berg: “I am very proud to have Orange Wings as an investor. The personal approach and critical eye of Shawn Harris immediately felt right. The investment will be used for improvements in product distribution and availability. In addition, we will expand sales and marketing activities and hire new staff.”
